El origen Wine Pago del Vicario

El origen is the deepest expression of Pago del Vicario’s winemaking soul. This wine is born from an authentic quest to rediscover the vineyard’s essence and pay homage to the viticultural legacy. Coming from the oldest plot in the San Clemente Valley, planted in 1901, its Mencía grape encapsulates over a century of history in every sip.

Crafted from centenary vines, it becomes the winery’s most emblematic wine for its elegance, balance, and complexity. Its production reflects the connection between variety, terroir, and tradition, offering a sensory experience that goes beyond technicality to touch the emotional.

On the nose, it is intense and profound even without swirling the glass: notes of ripe blackcurrant, mineral nuances typical of the soil, and subtle aging touches stand out. As it breathes, memories of fine woodworking, coffee, and smokiness emerge without losing the clear presence of the fruit.

On the palate, its velvety texture and rounded tannins create a long and elegant journey. The gustatory breadth is accompanied by a mineral background and a constant sensation of varietal authenticity, with that character reminding you it is above all a great grape well interpreted.
