Soto del Vicario

The Atlantic soul of Bierzo in every bottle

In the heart of the Bierzo Denomination of Origin, in the Leonese town of San Clemente, near Cacabelos, lies Soto del Vicario—the Bierzo winery of Pago del Vicario. An estate of 35 hectares where century-old vines and native forests coexist, vibrant nature and winemaking tradition. Of those 35 hectares, 19 are dedicated to vine cultivation, divided into 190 small plots that demand meticulous, artisanal work full of respect for the environment.

Here grow some of the most representative varieties of the northwestern peninsula: Mencía, with vines up to 110 years old, Godello, Doña Blanca, Jerez, and Malvasía. Vines that have witnessed generations and today continue to produce wines full of freshness, intensity, and balance.

A feminine gaze over the vineyard

Since 2006, winemaker Sandra Luque Muñoz, an agronomist engineer and oenology specialist, has led the production of Soto del Vicario wines.

Her sensitivity, knowledge, and deep respect for the grape result in wines that preserve the typicity of the variety and the essence of Bierzo.

Among her creations stand out labels such as Go de Godello, Men de Mencía, and Men Selección—references that define the soul of this winery.
